Chad Miller must like this All-Ohio stuff.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers senior guard made it 2-for-2 in sports this school year after being named to the Associated Press All-Ohio Division III basketball team Tuesday.

The 6-foot Miller was special mention All-Ohio to match his All-Ohio special mention status in football.

Miller, one of the select few athletes to earn All-Ohio in two sports, helped Ironton to a 17-6 record and district runner-up finish. He led the team with 13.5 points and 4.6 rebounds despite playing guard.

Wheelersburg, reaching the state tournament for the second straight season, came away with Camden Miller not only on the first team but sharing Player of the Year honors.

Drew Spradlin of the Pirates was a second team selection.

The only other Southeast district player on one of the top three teams was Jordan Thornhill of Belpre who averaged 22 points a game.

Named to the Division III honorable mention list was 6-2 Ironton junior forward Tyler Shoemaker (11.5 points, 4.0 rebounds), South Point’s 6-4 senior forward Chase McWhorter (18.9 points, 8.1 rebounds) and Fairland’s 6-4 sophomore forward Michael Lamb (18.3, 6.3).

Leading the Division IV selections was Symmes Valley’s 6-6 senior forward Michael Humphrey (21.0 points per game) who was selected special mention.

Named to the honorable mention list was St. Joseph’s 6-2 senior guard Michael Basedow who averaged 13.5 points and 4.6 rebounds as the Flyers reached the district tournament for the first time in 32 years.
