SOUTH POINT — Maybe they should call her Hurryin’ Hannah Huron.

Huron made quick work of the Portsmouth Lady Trojans as she allowed just one hit in four innings to lead the South Point Lady Pointers to an 11-0 win Thursday.

Huron struck out five, did not walk a batter and the only hit was a two-out single in the fourth inning. She also went 2-2 at the plate with a triple and two runs batted in.

Fairland 19, Ironton 1

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons put the ball in play. Pitcher Megan Auxier made sure their opponents didn’t.

Fairland had 12 hits and took advantage of seven errors to back the two-hit pitching of Auxer in a 19-1 five-inning win over the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers Thursday.

“We put the ball in play and that’s all you can ask for,” Fairland coach Leroy Baise said. “And Megan threw well today. She threw 57 pitches and 45 were strikes, so she’s getting better.”

Auxier struck out nine and did not issue a walk.

Fairland (3-0) was led offensively by MacKenzie Rucker and Megan Brooks who went 3-4. Auxier was 2-4 with a home run.

Rucker and Brooks singled and Auxier hit a two-run double. Kirstyn Midkiff singled in a run, Jordan Fulks walked and Beth Schlegel had an RBI single.

After a force play at home, Sarah Simms was safe on an error for a run and Rucker tripled in a run. Brooks singled in Rucker and Auxier capped the rally with a home run.

The lead went to 15-0 in the second inning.
