Lady Tigers club Cavs; Lady Pointers roll

Give the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers an inch and they’ll take, well, 17 runs.

Ironton had six hits but took advantage of seven errors and three walks to rout the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers 17-1 Monday in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League game.

Sara Jones got the win as she allowed only four hits, struck out five and walked one.

Kelsey Bronson, Emily Lilly, Edi Taylor, Janie Morris, Jordan Scott and Nikki Harbolt all had hits for the Lady Tigers.

Ironton will host Wheelersburg Tuesday and Jackson Wednesday.

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers opened Ohio Valley Conference play with a 10-0 five-inning win Monday over the Coal Grove Lady Hornets.

The Lady Pointers had 10 hits with Ericka Leighty going 2-for-3 and Felesha Dickess drilling a triple to lead the offense.

Emily Mannon got the win with three innings of work. Chelsea Seagraves worked the final two innings as the duo limited Coal Grove to four hits.

South Point hosts Russell, Ky., Tuesday in a non-league game.
