LATHAM — Tiffany Bryant put on one outstanding performance.

The problem was the Western Pike Lady Indians got two outstanding performances.

Kaylee Helton and Sarah Stratman combined for 58 points as the Western Pike Lady Indians beat the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 62-52 Saturday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

Bryant scored a career-high 29 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked 4 shots but was outmatched by Helton and Stratman.

Helton had a game-high 31 points with Sarah Stratman scoring 27 as Western stayed unbeaten (4-0, 3-0).

“Tiffany played one of her best games to date,” Symmes Valley coach Lisa Bryant said.

Natasha Pointer added 9 points and 6 rebounds, Emily Bowling had 8 points and 5 rebounds while Hailey Pelletier pulled down 11 rebounds to go with 4 steals for the Lady Vikings (2-2, 1-2).

Western took a 20-18 lead at the end of the first quarter and then extended the lead to 39-32 at the half as Helton scored 9 points.

Bryant had 12 of the Vikings 14 points in the second quarter.

The Lady Vikings battled back and outscored Western 15-4 in the third quarter to take a 47-43 lead.

Even though Symmes Valley had the lead, they began getting into foul trouble and the Lady Vikings got just 8 points in the fourth quarter as Western rallied for the win.

“The fouls began to pile up and we started to turn the ball over,” coach Bryant said.

The Lady Indians led by as many as 17 points before Symmes Valley cut the deficit to 10.

“Our kids never quit. We just ran out of time,” coach Bryant said.
