SOUTH POINT — Being undefeated, the South Point Pointers have had quite a few leads in their first six wins.

But the Pointers were forced to rally Tuesday as they outscored the East Carter (Ky.) Raiders 10-9.

“That was the first time we’ve been behind in a while, but the seniors stepped up. We had a lot of kids who stepped up when they needed too,” said Pointers coach Marty Patrick.

South Point jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

Chris Brown walked, Beau Weed reached on an error and Trenton Moore and Chase McWhorter singled for runs. Jacob Seagraves walked to force in a run.

The lead went to 4-0 in the second inning when Zach Jenkins and Moore walked and came around to score on a hit by Weed.

East Carter rallied for six runs in the top of the fifth to lead 6-4, but the Pointers answered with five runs in the bottom of the frame.

Brown and Weed singled to start the inning. Moore singled for an RBI, McWhorter and Seagraves walked for a run, and Kyle Hughes hit a sacrifice fly.

The Raiders tied the game in the sixth only to have South Point come right back for the winning run in the bottom of the inning as McWhorter singled, stole second and scored on a double by Seagraves.

South Point (7-0) hosts River Valley Wednesday in a league game.
