COAL GROVE — With threatening skies and chilly weather conditions, the second race of the season was able to be completed Friday.

Cars from three states came to race as some of the best drivers in the region were in the pit area. Late Models had the best car count of the night with 23 very competitive cars in attendance.

In the Late Model A-Main, polesitter Josh McGuire led the field to the green but spun in the middle of turns one and two. With the spin, Jackie Boggs would have the pole as he took off from the start and pulled away in the first seven laps as the field was two and three wide all over the track.

On the restart for the lap seven caution, Boggs and Greg Oliver battled side by side for the lead for a few laps with Boggs eventually starting to pull away. With Boggs leading, the racing throughout the field was some of the best ever witnessed at Rocky Top.

After the spinout and going back to the 22nd position, by lap 18 Josh McGuire, putting together an incredible drive, already worked his way up to the third position riding the high side.

Hall of Fame driver Delmas Conley was also working his way up riding the high side as he was right behind McGuire battling for fourth. A caution with six laps to go bunched the field back up.

However, nobody would have anything for Boggs as Jackie Boggs led from start to finish to take the win! Greg Oliver finished second with Josh McGuire third, Nick Bocook fourth, and Delmas Conley fifth.

Josh McGuire won the dash race while Harold Redman Jr. and Travis Brookover won Carl Grover Motorsports heat races.

Polesitter Todd Robinson led the field to turn one in the Modified A-Main as a five-car crash happened behind him. Doug Adkins was charged with the caution and had to go to the rear of the field. With Robinson leading, all eyes were on Adkins as he was charging quickly to the front, passing six cars on the first lap.

Adkins, riding the high side, made up ground quickly and was now to the back bumper of Robinson with four laps to go. Now with three laps to go, off of turn four, Adkins put a crossover move on Robinson to go on and take the win.

Billy Dement finished second with Dave Jameson third, Jason Perry fourth, and J.P. Roberts fifth. Todd Robinson and Billy Dement won Carl Grover Motorsports heat races.

In the Bomber A-Main, Jeremie Bretz took the lead at the start as the field battled two and three wide behind him. Bretz was unbeatable all night long as he came to the checkered flag for his second win in a row.

John Rayburn finished second with Brett Carey third, Wayne Hughes fourth, and Nub Ross fifth. John Rayburn and Jeremie Bretz won Carl Grover Motorsports heat races.
