AID — One out of seven is bad.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings suffered through only one bad inning, but it was enough to cause an 8-1 loss to the Portsmouth Clay Lady Panthers Monday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We had one bad inning where we just gave them six runs. We hit the ball better than I thought we would. We put the ball in play. We’re just young and inconsistent,” said Lady Vikings coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Clay used four Symmes Valley errors to score six more runs in the second inning and it was 8-0.

The Lady Vikings got their only run in the bottom of the second when Chelsea Wall reached on an error and Kathryn Myers spanked a one-out double.

Symmes Valley (2-5, 2-2) visits Eastern Wednesday.
