PEDRO — If the Rock Hill Redmen had a plan for winning, they “Drew” it up with their pitcher.

Drew Kuehne pitched a 7-hitter and the Redmen banged out 13 hits en route to an 8-2 win over the Chesapeake Panthers Tuesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Kuehne struck out five, walked two and allowed only one earned run in going the distance.

“Drew threw the ball really well tonight and we played really good defense behind him,” said Redmen coach Barry Litteral. “The two errors were just hustle plays where we couldn’t find the handle.”

Each team scored two runs in the first inning.

In the top of the first inning, Clinton Baise reached on an error, Bryon Huff singled, Kyle Rase put down a sacrifice bunt and Kersten Harris had a two-run single as Chesapeake went ahead.

The Redmen came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game when Seth Kuehne reached on an error and J.C. Murnahan drilled a two-run homer.

Rock Hill took the lead with two runs in the third inning.

Seth Kuehne singled, stole second and came to third on a hit by Murnahan. Carl Blankenship had an RBI single and an error on the return throw from the outfield scored Murnahan.

The lead went to 5-2 in the fourth inning when Josh Guy doubled and Mitchell Davenport got his first varsity hit with an RBI single.

Rock Hill finished the scoring with three runs in the fifth.

Zach Zornes and Drew Kuehne singled and Guy cranked a three-run homer.

Guy was 3-3 while Blankenship and Zornes each went 3-4 to pace the Redmen offense.

Rock Hill (10-5, 7-3) hosts Ironton Thursday.
