ROME TOWNSHIP — Life is for the living. Just ask the Fairland Lady Dragons.

Fairland found life more fun Friday with a 6-4 come-from-behind win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We came alive in the fifth inning. Then Chesapeake came back on us and we kicked it in gear and stopped them,” said Fairland coach Leroy Baise.

“It was a good game and a good win for us.”

Fairland got a run in the first inning when Megan Brooks doubled and scored on a hit by Megan Auxier.

Chesapeake rallied to take a 2-1 lead in the third inning.

Nikki Lindsey singled, went to third base on an outfield error and scored on a passed ball. Allison Chapman walked, moved up on a passed ball and scored when Kati McCallister’s line drive was dropped.

The Panthers extended the lead to 3- 1 in the top of the fifth inning.

Lindsey was safe on an error, stole second, and went to third on a throwing error. She scored on McCallister’s ground out.

But Fairland came to life in the bottom of the inning with a five-run rally.

Shelby Fuller bunted for a hit and went to second base when Sarah Sims grounded out. Brooks singled for the RBI.

MacKenzie Rucker singled and Auxier doubled both runners home.

Jordan Fulks walked, Kirstyn Midkiff singled for a run and Whitney Boster

grounded out as a run scored.

In the seventh, Chesapeake’s Casey Kirk singled, Lindsey walked, and a passed ball moved the runners up. Chapman hit into a fielder’s choice as a run scored, but Auxier came on in relief to shut down the Lady Panthers to record the save.

Fulks went the first six-plus innings to get the win.

Fairland (8-6, 3-2) visits South Point Monday.
