Lady Tigers roll to wins

CHILLICOTHE — On a day when the Ironton offense went to work, the defense was even better.

Although the Lady Fighting Tigers had 15 hits, the defense did not commit an error in a 13-0 Southeastern Ohio Athletic League win over the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers Friday.

“Kelsey Bronson and Nikki Harbolt led the team with a good defensive effort,” said Lady Tigers coach Missy Fields.

Edi Taylor, Jessica Brown, Kelsey Bronson, Janie Morris, Brea Tackett and Jordan Scott all had two hits each for Ironton.

Sara Jones got the win with a one-hitter over five innings. She struck out two and walked three.

Ironton 18, Jackson 11

JACKSON — In the “Sound of Music,” the hills were alive with the sound of music.

On Monday, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers made the diamond alive with base hits.

Ironton spanked 22 hits en route to an 18-11 win over the Jackson Ironladies.

“Our bats were alive again tonight,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields. “Every hitter in our lineup had at least one hit for the game. It was exciting to see all of the girls attack the ball.”

The offensive explosion help freshman Kylie Summers notch her first career victory. She allowed three hits and four runs in four innings.

Sara Jones worked the final three innings to help preserve Summers’ first win.

Leading the offensive explosion were Edi Taylor and Janie Morris who each went 4-4. Brea Tackett was 3-3, Nikki Harbolt 3-4 and Kelsey Bronson and Jessica Brown 2-4.

Ironton is 4-7 and 4-2 in the SEOAL. The Lady Tigers host Gallipolis Wednesday in a key league game.

“The bats have really come alive in the second half of the season. The girls are gaining confidence,” said Fields.
