Lady Vikings win 8-3

AID — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers never found the error of their ways.

Errors played a key role as the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings beat Ironton 8-3 Wednesday.

Ironton outhit the Vikes 9-8 but were guilty of eight errors.

Ironton went up 2-0 in the first when Edi Taylor singled, Kelsey Bronson was safe on an error to put runners on the corner, and, after a wild pitch moved up Bronson, Nikki Harbolt had a two-run single.

The lead went to 3-0 in the top of the second inning when Taylor slugged a two-out home run over the fence in center field.

But the Lady Vikings came back with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Chelsea Wall and Kayla Justice each reached on errors and Courtney Nelson singled to load the bases. Julie Carter was safe on an error as two runs scored and Latasha Hatfield capped the rally with an RBI single.

In a 4-run third inning, Emily Browning walked, Wall reached on another error and Justice walked. Julie Carter doubled home two runs and Nikki Nance followed with a two-run single.

Symmes Valley added an insurance run in the sixth inning.

Natasha Pointer walked, Bowling singled and Erica Corn was safe on an error.

Symmes Valley (11-11) visits Huntington (W.Va.) Thursday.
