HUNINGTON, W.Va. — Moore was less.

South Point used the pitching of Trenton Moore to hold the Huntington Highlanders to less runs as the Pointers took a 5-3 win Friday.

“Trent really pitched a nice game,” said Pointers coach Marty Patrick.

Moore held Huntington to five hits, struck out three and walked three in going the distance.

Moore hit a solo home run leading off the second inning to give the Pointers a 1-0 lead.

The score went to 2-0 in the third inning when Heath Bridges reached on an error, Beau Weed singled, Anthony Ross walked and Moore hit a sacrifice fly.

Huntington got a run in the third inning but the Pointers got it back in the top of the fifth.

Zach Jenkins walked, Brown hit into a fielder’s choice but went to second base on a ground out. Ross doubled to score Brown and it was 3-1.

The Highlanders got two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game only to have the Pointers answer with two runs in the seventh to win the game.

Jenkins was safe on an error, moved up on a passed ball, and Brown drilled a double off the fence for an RBI.

An out later, Ross singled to right field with Brown scoring an insurance run.

South Point (16-1) hosts St. Joseph at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
