An Ironton area man was arrested Monday and charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Jesse Hanshaw, 23, of 4256 County Road 32, was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and will be arraigned Friday in Lawrence County Municipal Court.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputy J.D. McDaniel said the victim was a 13-year-old girl and the abuse took place during five separate incidents in various locations during a four-month period.

The investigation began when the sheriff’s office was contacted by Lawrence County Childrens Services.

The sheriff’s department says Hanshaw has confessed to the allegations.
