A 2006 car accident that took the lives of two people found its resolution in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court Wednesday.

Scott David Wilds, 28, of Pedro, pleaded guilty on a bill of information to two counts of misdemeanor vehicular homicide in connection with the deaths of two people, a friend, Rodney L. Joseph, 34, and his cousin, Frederick C. Wilds, 33.

northbound on State Route 93 when the car ran off the road and flipped several times.

As per a negotiated plea agreement, Judge Charles Cooper sentenced Wilds to two consecutive six-month prison terms, but those sentences were suspended and he was placed on two years probation. Further, his driver’s license was suspended for a year.

County Prosecutor J.B. Collier, Jr., said Wilds was allowed to plead guilty to two misdemeanor charges since there was no absolute evidence proving Scott Wilds was the driver—he has said he does not remember if he was driving.

“We had a hard time with this case. Mr. Wilds had no priors. This was a single car accident. There were no witnesses,” Collier said. “…I think this is an aberration and hopefully nothing like this will ever happen again.”

Wild told the court he was “sorry for what happened.”
