Area residents have a new choice for vision care.

Dr. James Jankowski opened his optometry practice, Advanced Vision of Ironton, July 23 at 618 S. Fourth St., next door to the American Automobile Association office.

A newcomer to Ironton, Jankowski traveled a long way — a very long way— to get here. He was born in Poland. He family moved to Germany when he was eight years old and then immigrated to Canada a couple of years later. He moved to Ohio eight years ago.

After getting his undergraduate degree from Ottawa University in Canada, he studied optometry at Ohio State University in Columbus. After a year of working in another practice, Jankowski moved to Ironton and opened his own

office.

“I love it,” he said. “I’m glad to be out of Columbus. I was tired of the city, tired of the traffic.”

Jankowski’s office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday with evenings hours by appointment Mondays and Wednesday. He said he may consider appointments by request one Saturday each month.

He accepts all types of vision and medical insurance. To make an appointment, call 533-3934 or toll-free 888-771-0070.

“I want to provide the best eye care and the best customer service,” Jankowski said. “We strive to be the best and have a welcoming environment.”
