Ironton postal worker bitten

A mail carrier for the Ironton Post Office was bitten by a dog Wednesday and the owner of the dog was cited to court.

Ironton police Capt Chris Bowman said the postal worker, whose name was not released, was delivering mail in the 1100 block North Sixth Street when four dogs reportedly came off a porch and approached him.

He was bitten on the foot by one dog, Bowman said.

Information on his condition was not immediately available.

Tracy Romine, 37, of 1108 N. Sixth St., was charged with allowing a vicious dog to run at large.

She must appear in Ironton Municipal Court today to answer the charge against her.

Three of the dogs were located and taken to the Lawrence County dog pound.
