A fugitive from Vermont was arrested Thursday after a raid on a Lawrence County home.

Randy F. Therrian, 43, was arrested on a Vermont escape warrant after authorities were tipped off about his location at a Chesapeake home.

According to the Vermont Department of Corrections, Therrian was sentenced to three to 20 years for six burglaries, assault and receiving stolen property. He was to report to prison and when he failed to do so, an escape warrant was issued.

On Thursday morning around 2:34 a.m. deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, troopers from Ohio State Highway Patrol and officers from the Chesapeake Police Department raided a house on Powhatten Avenue in Chesapeake.

“He was just here hiding,” said Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton. “We aren’t certain if he had relatives but we think he had a female companion.”

Sexton said there weren’t any local charges against Therrian and no one else was arrested.

Therrian had obtained a fake Ohio identification card using the identity of another Vermont prisoner.

He is lodged in the Lawrence County Jail waiting for extradition back to Vermont. He will have an extradition hearing on Friday before Judge Donald Capper.
