Winning can clear up postseason playoff picture

The Ironton Fighting Tigers can make things real easy for themselves. They’ll make things nearly impossible with a loss.

Ironton can solve its place in the Division IV postseason playoffs by beating the Logan Chieftains Friday. If not, the door is wide open for the Rock Hill Redmen and New Lexington Panthers.

Ironton (5-4) can rack up 57 points with a win and jump to seventh, but will probably only get 10.5 points with a loss.

Rock Hill (7-2) will get 30.5 points with a win over South Point but just 12 points with a loss.

New Lexington (7-2) is currently third, but the Panthers are underdogs against Sheridan, also bidding to make the Division III playoffs.

New Lexington is No. 7 with a 12.7521 average followed by Rock Hill at 12.1713 and Ironton at 11.3833.

The Coal Grove Hornets are in a more precarious position in Region 19 of Division V.

Coal Grove (6-2) has moved up to eighth place, but the Hornets face a strong challenge from West Lafayette Ridgewood and seventh-place Belpre.

Belpre (7-2) is seventh with a 12.8727 average but must play at Meigs (5-4) in tough conference game.

Coal Grove, with a 12.8125 average, should beat River Valley (1-8) but won’t pick up many computer points even with a win. In fact, the Hornets will probably get only 13.5 points this week.

Ridgewood (8-1) has a 12.4000 average and should beat Newcomerstown (3-6). With an expected win, Ridgewood would pick up 27 points from its schedule.

If Belpre loses, Ridgewood would probably jump to No. 7 and Coal Grove would be in a tight battle with Belpre for the No. 8 spot. If all three teams win, Coal Grove would probably be the odd man out.
