A Toledo man is in jail today after allegedly breaking into a house and briefly holding its occupant hostage.

Marvin Cosper, 42, is charged with kidnapping, felonious assault and aggravated burglary.

Just after 3 a.m. Saturday, Ironton police were called to a residence in the 300 block of Monroe Street in regard to a burglary in progress.

When officers arrived they reportedly found Cosper had barricaded himself inside the residence with his victim, but then fled out a back door. He was apprehended shortly thereafter and taken to jail.

“She (the victim) said he had been knocking on her door throughout the day,” Ironton Police Capt. Chris Bowman said. “She said she knows him but didn’t say how she knew him.”

Bowman said two knives were found in Cosper’s possession at the time of his arrest.
