COAL GROVE — Some of the little folks in line ahead of her seemed a bit, well, scared of that man in the red suit. But not Kierstyn Curry. When her turn came, the five-year-old Coal Grove girl ran up to Santa and bounced up on his lap without hesitation.

And she had her Christmas list ready.

“I want a baby doll and movies,” she said. “I want Ice Age and The Lion King.”

It seems Santa had a small list of his own. Kierstyn confided he wants milk and cookies waiting on the table when she comes to her home on Christmas Eve.

Kierstyn’s sisters, Kayla and Chelsie, had their own confabs with Santa, too, as did many, many other kids who attended the annual Breakfast with Santa at Dawson-Bryant High School Saturday morning. The annual event is sponsored by the Coal Grove Betterment Club and Coal Grove Lions Club. After noshing pancakes and sausages and listening to Christmas music, kids got to line up for a one-on-one with the man of the hour.

Madison Boggs, 5, of Coal Grove, said she asked Santa for a pink teddy bear and a Rose Petal Cottage. Now has she been a good girl this year? Her mommy, Tara, said she certainly has.

Daniel Williams, of Kitts Hill, is only 17 months old and perhaps a bit young to articulate to Santa what he might want to see under his Christmas tree. His mom, Melissa Williams, was sure he wants some cars, though, and planned to ask Santa for that when her son got his chance on the jolly fat man’s knee. Daniel’s sister, Desiree, wanted “an IPod and a CD player I can carry.”

Daron Dixon, 7, also of Kitts Hill, said he wanted hot wheels and a OSU jersey with the number 46 on it.

The Boy Scout Troop 103 and some of the scouts’ parents served drinks during the breakfast as they do for other community events. In the spring, the Lions Club will have its annual pancake breakfast during Easter weekend and the scouts will help then, too. Scoutmaster Marion Harrison was honored during the event by the village leaders for his community service.
