FRANKLIN FURNACE — Not even the Sahara Desert stays this dry.

The Green Bobcats went more than 11 minutes without scoring in a 66-47 loss to the New Boston Tigers Tuesday in a Southern Ohio Conference I game.

After taking a 22-19 lead in the first quarter, the Bobcats failed to score in the second quarter and had only nine points in the third quarter.

“We had good shots, they were just quick shots,” said Green coach Dave Hopper. “Our shooting and breakdowns on defense killed us. We gave up too many easy shots.”

After trailing 27-22 at the half and 41-31 heading to the fourth quarter, Green cut the deficit to four points early in the quarter and again to six.

But the Bobcats were forced to foul and the Tigers converted 11-of-13 from the foul line in the fourth quarter.

Randy Ratcliff had 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead Green (2-5, 2-2 SOC). Matt Clarke scored 16 points in the loss.
