Cassandra Cantrell, 24, of Ashland, Ky., pleaded guilty to an amended charge of attempt to commit burglary.

“This is a case where the window of an elderly victim was broken, this is a very serious case and very frightening for him, not knowing who was n the other side of the door,” Anderson said.

Cooper sentenced her to four years in prison. If she stays out of trouble and if she successfully completes in-prison rehabilitation programs, she could be given judicial release in two years. If she does not, she could be released after two-and-a-half years if she is able to get into a community-based correctional facility. Either way, she will be on four years community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation after she is released from prison.

“You fate is, in many ways, in your hands,” Cooper told Cantrell. “I am concerned about your drug difficulties. I hope you will take advantage of programs while you are in prison. If not, I will consider release to a CBCF.”

Cantrell has also agreed to testify truthfully against another Ashland, woman, Beverly Singer, 27, who has also been indicted in connection with that incident. Singer’s case is pending in common pleas court.
