WAYNE, W.Va. — The Chesapeake Panthers not only left little doubt who the champions of the Wayne Holiday Tournament were, but they made it clear early.

The Panthers built a big first quarter lead and never looked back as they belted the Wayne Pioneers 72-36 Saturday night.

Tyler Shoemaker pumped in 15 points in the first quarter as the Panthers jumped in front 27-11.

Kyle Webb scored five points in the second quarter as the lead grew to 42-24 at the half.

Webb came back with five more points in the third quarter to lead a balanced scoring effort and the defense held Wayne to just eight points to surge ahead 61-32.

Chesapeake’s backups finished the game and limited the Pioneers to only six points.

Shoemaker scored 23 points and Webb 14 for the Panthers who had nine players in the scoring column.

Shoemaker and Webb were named all-tournament.
