PROCTORVILLE — Life is supposed to be a series of give-and-take.
In Wednesday’s Ohio Valley Conference game, the Rock Hill Redmen gave and the Fairland Dragons were glad to take.
Rock Hill issued 14 walks to help the Dragons take a 7-0 win.
“They gave us some runs and we’ll take them,” said Fairland coach Roger Snyder. “We didn’t have a lot of hits, but neither did they.”
Fairland scored six runs on just three hits over the first two innings.
Zac Jordan, Robbie Easterling, Tyler Thackston, Tyler Godby and Ethan Long all walked to force in two runs to start the first inning. Chris Ward hit into a fielder’s choice to score the third run.
The Dragons came back with three more runs in the second inning.
With two outs, Zach Matasich singled, moved up on an error, Easterling walked, a passed ball sent Matasich to third base and he scored when Easterling stole second base.
Thackston doubled to drive home Easterling and he scored on Ward’s base hit.
The final run scored in the third inning.
Jordan walked, stole second, moved up on a passed ball, and came home when Matasich grounded out.
Thackston got the win as he struck out seven, allowed just two hits and did not walk a batter.
Fairland is 6-1 and 3-1 in the OVC. Rock Hill is 2-1 and 2-1.
