STEVE SUMMERS

Steve Summers, 45, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. He was born March 6, 1963, in Pedro, the son of the late Harry and Joann Barnhart Summers.
He attended Rock Hill Schools and was a meat cutter for Pennington Food Fair in Flatwoods, Ky. Steve was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Ironton and president of the Ironton Band Boosters.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Long Summers, whom he married July 16, 1983; a son, Ryan Stephen Summers; three sisters, Shari Bryant, Susan Bryant and Stacy Summers; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Shawn and Angie Summers and Shannon Summers; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Harvey and the Rev. Aaron Fields officiating. In honor of Steve, the Ironton High School Band will perform at the cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jeff Sanders, Will Smith, Zach Jenkins, Carl Whitley, Kent Stewart and Grady Runyon. Honorary pallbearers will be Shawn Osborne and Clark Hughes.
