JACK SHORE

Jack V. Shore, 76, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W. Va. The Lawrence County, Ohio native was born July 25, 1932, the son of the late Carmie Adam Shore and the late Laura Mae Inkie Shore Patton. He is survived by his wife, Helen Smith Shore, whom he married Jan. 3, 1954.
Mr. Shore was a 1950 graduate of Coal Grove High School and attended Morehead State University. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and a retired machinist from the Dayton Malleable Iron Company, where he was employed for more than 50 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and also was a pastor from 1963-1978 for the Church of God Holiness in Ironton and several other local churches. He was a former teacher at Collins Career Center and Ashland Vocational School where he taught the tool and die class.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Shore and Carmie Adam Shore, Jr.; and a sister, Charlotte Malone.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Vernon and Julie Shore of New Carlisle; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Michael and Tina Shore of Wesley Chapel, Fla; daughter and son-in-law, Deanna and James Cordle of Ironton; daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and Ed Whitworth of Ironton, 14 grandchildren, Jeremy Shore, Josie Wells, Jed Whitworth, Daniel Cordle, Lisa Cordle, Matthew Cordle, Jared Shore, Sarah Sloan, Stephanie Shore, David Shore, Abbey Shore, Kelsey Shore, Michael Blake Shore, and Justin Crittenden; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Estel Ray Shore of St. Paris; and several nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, with Rev. Paul Neal officiating. Entombment will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Military graveside rites will be by VFW Post 8850.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Shore, Daniel Cordle, David Shore, Matthew Cordle, Branden Kellogg, Ed Whitworth, and James Cordle.
