PEDRO — Mary Chin Evans, 81, of Pedro, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at a local health care center. The Palau Island native was born June 13, 1927, the daughter of the late Ten Yee Chin and Okeliyou Tey Chin. She is survived by her husband, Raymond R. Evans of Pedro.
Mrs. Evans was a graduate of Koror High School and a member of the Decatur Missionary Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking. She had lived in this area since 1949.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ivan Dale Evans; one brother, Toktai Chin; and a sister: Yuing Mariur.
In addition to her husband, she is also survived by son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Beth Evans of Ironton; a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory and Carolyn Evans of South Point; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Doris Evans of Novi, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Robert Katulski of Canton, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law: Coleen and Wesley Dunnagan of Columbia, S.C.; grandchildren, Mark (Julie) and Michael Katulski, Heidi Evans, Sara (David) Kerecman, Aaron and Jordan Evans and Stephanie Finchum; great grandchildren, Jacob Katulski and Kemper Kerecman; four sisters, Yoppong Tmeke, Yuang Etpison, Yoran Fetner, Josephine Wilkerson; a brother, Toksen Chin; and a host of loving family members and friends
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Decatur Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Ray Evans and Rev. Brian Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Furnace Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, and the body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church.
