John R. Ackison, 61, of Williamsport, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008 at OSU Hospital.
He was born April 9, 1947, in Ironton, the son of the late William E. and Mary Catherine (Cleary) Ackison.
He was an U.S. Army veteran of Vietnam War, retired diesel mechanic from Hogan Leasing, Hilliard, a member of AMVETS and VFW and loved to fly and fish at Lake Erie.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Jergler) Ackison; children, Chris (Kalynn) Ackison of Circleville, Kim Ackison of Mt. Sterling and Bill (Angel) Ackison of Circleville; four grandchildren, Raelinn, Zoi, Amber and Shelby; step-grandchildren, Harley and Jaklynn; a brother, David (Kathy) Ackison, of Grove City and a sister, Susan Sweeney, of Grove City.
Funeral service will be noon Friday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville, with the Rev. Jeff Blakeman officiating. AMVETS military graveside rites will be in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.
