Theft, assault on docket

A West Virginia woman accused of theft and a South Point man arrested for felonious assault were among those making appearances Wednesday in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court.

Amanda Thompson, 28, of Huntington, W.Va., pleaded guilty to attempt to commit robbery, theft from the elderly and assault. She will be sentenced next week.

Gary L. Fetty, 29, of 104 Garden Court, South Point, pleaded guilty to two counts of felonious assault and one count of criminal; damaging. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced him to a total of three years in prison.

Christopher Ball, 29, of 499 State Route 373, Pedro, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering and theft. Judge D. Scott Bowling sentenced him to four years community controlled sanctions under intensive supervised probation (CCS/ISP). He was also ordered to serve six months of electronically monitored home confinement but was given work privileges.

Jon B. Jessie, 24, of 1319 State Route 650, Ironton, pleaded guilty to theft and criminal damaging. He was sentenced to a total of six months in jail but that sentence was suspened and was given three years probation.

Probation violations were also on the docket Wednesday. Justin Thomas, 22, of 1612 County Road 21, Ironton, admitted he violated his community controlled sanctions, or probation, by failing to report to his probation order and not paying ordered restitution. Cooper sentenced him to 90 days in jail and ordered him to pay the restitution. Thomas was on probation for earlier convictions on misuse of a credit card and contributing to the unruliness of a minor.

David L. Rickey Jr., of 999 Coal Bank Hollow, Ironton, admitted he violated his probation by not reporting to his probation officer and by not paying his court costs. Bowling sentenced him to five months in prison.

Frank Lewis, 26, whose last known address was State Route 243, Ironton, admitted he also violated his probation by not paying his restitution. Bowling ordered him to pay a minimum of $100 a month toward his restitution. He was on probation for earlier convictions on theft and breaking and entering charges.

Mark Ward, whose last known address was 7792 County Road 1, South Point, admitted he violated his probation by failing to report, pay supervisory fees and court costs. Bowling sentenced him to six months in prison. He was probation for an earlier conviction on a drug charge.

Also, Harry Wilkes Jr., 28, of Huntington, W.Va., admitted he violated his probation by testing positive for drug use. He was sentenced to five months in prison. He was on probation after pleading guilty to an earlier theft of drug charge.
