Four more years.

Incumbent Republican Lawrence County Recorder Sharon Gossett Hager will get a second full term in that office.

With all 84 precincts counted in Tuesday general election, Gossett Hager collected 13,034 votes; Democratic challenger Susan Sheridan garnered 11,050 votes while Independent candidate Jonathan Ater collected 1,700 votes.

By the end of the night, Gossett Hager admitted she was “breathing better.”

“Obviously, I’m relieved and I feel honored again that the voters placed their trust in me,” she said. To me, this proves I am doing a good job. I couldn’t be happier. I feel honored and blessed.”

She thanked her supporters who played a big role in her success.

Gossett Hager was appointed more than four years ago to fill the unexpired term of Sue Deeds, who retired. She then ran four years ago in her own right. Previously, she had worked in the recorder’s office 10 years as a staff member.

She said her greatest strength was her knowledge of the office and how it works.
