Ironton falls in playoffs

The New Lexington Panthers took advantage of field position and Ironton mistakes to post a 38-6 win Friday in the Region 15 Division IV semifinals.

New Lexington (11-1) had 327 total yards as quarterback Clint Cannon ran for 86 yards and threw for 98 more yards.

R.J. Starkey ran for 89 yards including three touchdowns.

Ironton (8-4) failed to capitalize on two scoring opportunities in the third quarter that allowed New Lexington to maintain its lead.

New Lexington will now play Martins Ferry who beat Belmont Union Local 49-14.
