MEEKER, Colo. (AP) – Two brothers, one from Ashland, Ky., caught in a snowstorm while hunting elk emerged from the mountains in western Colorado Tuesday, four days after a search began for them.

Charles Michael Boso III, 43, of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Mark Boso, 32, of Ashland, Ky., called family members Tuesday evening, Rio Blanco County sheriff’s Sgt. Pat Darrow told The Denver Post.

Darrow said the men, both seasoned hunters, planned to finish their trip Friday. Family members contacted authorities Saturday and a search began.

Darrow said the brothers stayed warm and had plenty of supplies in their pickup truck, but they couldn’t get through the snow. He said searchers weren’t sure of the men’s location and were concerned their supplies would run out.

Plans were under way to organize a bigger search party when the two dug their way through the snow. The two were stranded about 220 miles west of Denver.
