NEW HOLLAND —Charles K. “Slick” Abrams, 83, of New Holland, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at his residence.
He was an Army veteran of World War II, inducted in Army 1943 to 1947; his service in the military included The Battle of the Bulge, landing in Normandy, receiving two Bronze Stars. He was a member of American Legion Post 0164 Grove City, Teamster 413, Mt. Sterling Lodge 269 F & A.M, and Scottish Rite Lodge, Valley of Columbus. He was also a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Ruth (Abner) Abrams; a brother, John Abrams; his sisters, Ethel Wisenberger and Jenny Cooper; a son, Patrice Mouton, and a daughter-in-law, Sabra Abrams.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Joann; a son, William K. Abrams, of Orient; a daughter, Jenni Deming, of Washington Court House; his sisters, Mary Pierce, of Petersburg, Tenn., and Emma (Pat) Murphy of Clarksville; his brothers, Clarence (Francis) Abrams, of Ironton, Larry (Bessie) Abrams, of Rush, Ky., his special brother, Don (Rose) of Grove City; five grandchildren including Drew Bennett, Drake Bennett, Dara Deming, Karson Abrams and Emily Abrams; a special daughter, Jackie Stapleton; a special cousin, Roy (Doris) Musick; numerous relatives and a host of friends.
Masonic Funeral Service will be noon Thursday at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling, Ohio. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Hilliard. Friends may call from 1 -3 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the funeral home.
