GARNET MASSIE

Garnet Rachel Massie, 90, of Ironton, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, from the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
The Boyd County, Ky., native was born Aug.10, 1918, the daughter of the late Roy and Ina Wheeler Lester. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Oscar Clinton Massie.
Mrs. Massie was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for nearly 60 years. She was a 1936 graduate of Boyd County High School and had lived all of her life in the area.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by an infant son, James Edward Massie; an infant sister, Kathleen Lester; and three brothers, Estil Lester, Edgar Lester, and Edgel Lester.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, William Massie of Columbus, Clinton Massie, Jr., of Ironton, Larry and Annette Massie, of Ironton and Gary and Mary Massie, of Taylor Mill, Ky.; five grandchildren, Clinton, Kyle, Ryan, Rachel, and Tiffany; a sister, Maxine Clarke, of Columbus; and a sister and brother-in-law: Nola and Pete Crabtree, of Huntington, W. Va.,
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Remy Meeks officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
