SOUTH POINT — William Edward “Ed” Kimble, 52, husband to Teresa Kay Kimble, of South Point, died Wednesday, Dec.10, 2008, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.
He was born Aug. 4, 1956, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. He was a graduate of Reynoldsburg High School and was self employed for 30 years with Grass Masters Professional Lawn Care Service.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lou Smith Kimble.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father, Charles H. Kimble, of South Point; a brother, Jack Kimble, of South Point;
three children, Jessica Hatten, of South Webster, Thomas Tennison and Kenneth Tennison, both of Coal Grove, and five grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenny Miller officiating. Friends may call 2-3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Danny Rice
FLATWOODS, Ky. — Danny E. Rice, 56, of Flatwoods, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008. He was the husband of Ginger Thompson Rice, who survives. Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Advance Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Garnett Friend

WATERLOO — Garnett “Boots” Preston Friend, 75, of Waterloo, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born Aug.26, 1933, in Martin County Ky. the daughter of the late Elbert and Narie Hammond Preston.
Mrs. Friend was a former nurse at Marion General Hospital and a homemaker. She was also a member of the Forest Ridge Community Church. She loved going to flea markets and gardening.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Mae Friend; two brothers, Carlos Preston and Everett Preston and two sisters, Bessie Preston and Mavis Bowen.
She is survived by her husband, Elroy Friend, whom she married July 12, 1955; a son and daughter-in-law, Roy Lee and Cindy Friend, of Barnsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Ann and Jimmy Lambert, of Jeanette, Penn.; a son, Timmy Friend and Debbie Howard, of Marion; a sister, Emma and Russell Marshall, of Millington, Tenn., seven grandchildren, Katie Lambert, Roy Lee Friend Jr., Michael Friend, Ericka Friend, Timmy Friend Jr., Tonia Friend, Kaylyn Friend and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Revs. Kenny Jiles and Willard Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Ethel Foster
ASHLAND, Ky. — Ethel Foster, 81, of Ashland, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at Jo-Lin Health Center in Ironton, Ohio. In keeping with her wishes, she will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown Funeral Chapel in Ironton and Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado, Ill.
