MARY BEAVER

Mary Jane Colston Beaver, 92, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. The Covington, Ky. native was born Aug. 13, 1916, the daughter of the late Lawrence Colston and Flossie Martin Colston Schreibeis.
Mrs. Beaver and her husband were former co-owners of Beaver Transfer & Storage Company and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in South Point and a former member of the Lorain Street Baptist Church in Ironton. She was very active in the Nursing Home Ministry with her church. She was a Guild Girl Leader and involved in many other church activities. She was a volunteer with the ladies auxiliary at Ironton General Hospital where she worked in the gift shop and later at the Lawrence County Historical Museum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Mace Beaver who passed on Dec. 28, 1991; a son, Clifford Earl Roszell; two grandsons, Scottie Seagraves and Nicky Beard; two sisters, Helen Sullivan and Dorothy Everett; and a brother, Lawrence Colston.
She is survived by a daughter, Rose Mary Newman of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Glen Seagraves of South Point; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Bob Drown of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Jim Taylor of Ironton; a daughter and son-in-law, Agnes and Jabez Beard of Southside, W.Va.; a daughter-in-law, Jeanine Roszell of Ironton; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 30 great- great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Frazer and Pastor David Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Friends may call Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.
