A morning pursuit in the South Point area Thursday ended with confiscation of a stolen car and apprehension of an unlicensed driver from Kentucky.

Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrested Brittany D. Wells, 22, of Flatwoods, and charged her with failure to comply with the order and signal of a police officer, driving without a license, receiving stolen property, failure to control a vehicle and not wearing a seat belt. She was taken to the Lawrence County Jail and is scheduled for arraignment today in Lawrence County Municipal Court in Chesapeake.

Just after 1 a.m. Thursday, Trooper R. E. Robirds located a vehicle that West Virginia authorities had been pursuing a short time before.

After determining in fact this was the vehicle wanted in West Virginia and had been reported stolen in Kentucky, Robirds attempted to stop the vehicle on Sand Road, but the vehicle disregarded lights and siren and fled north on Solida Road to Lick Creek where Wells allegedly lost control of the vehicle.

The car went off the right side of the road and struck a fence. Wells was reportedly arrested at that time.

The Kentucky vehicle operated by Wells was the 12th stolen vehicle Robirds has recovered this year, the 28th recovered by Lawrence County post personnel this year.
