COAL GROVE— Sara Margaret Holbrook, 73, of Coal Grove, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 3, 1935, in Boyd County, Ky., a daughter of the late James Andrew and Opal Hutchinson Murphy. She was a homemaker, a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the V.A. Medical Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Vaughn Holbrook on Oct. 9, 1997; three brothers, Bob, Harold and Mike Murphy and two sisters, Barbara Virgin and Sandy Ringrose.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Gary Greene of Greenup, Ky.; a son and daughter-in-law, Corky and Maureena Holbrook of Ashland, Ky.; three grandchildren, Andrew Patrick (Deanna) Ballard of Proctorville, Corey Vaughn Holbrook of Marysville and Sumer Lambert of Richmond, Va.; two stepgrandchildren, Ashley Vankuren and Erin Mays; and four great grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. James Smedley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in her memory to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, Ky. 41101.
