The South Point Lady Pointers didn’t have any extra time on their hands Saturday. In fact, they let time slip through their hands along with the game.

Time and fouls were a factor as the Lady Pointers dropped a 61-55 decision to the Oak Hill Lady Oaks in a battle of unbeatens.

“We played pretty well for most of the game. We talked all week that we needed to play 32 minutes. We played for 26, maybe 27 minutes,” said Lady Pointers coach Dave Adams.

“We got in foul trouble and they did a nice job causing us some match-up problems. They were patient with their offense and got the shots they wanted.”

Kayla Fletcher and Ashley Goodall each hit 3-pointers and scored five points apiece in the first quarter as the Lady Pointers took a 21-10 lead.

But Oak Hill went on a 13-0 run to begin the second quarter to take a 23-21 lead. Breanna Butler and Rebecca Puckett combined for 15 points in the quarter and the Lady Oaks closed the half with a 6-0 spurt to lead 37-27.

Jalynn Bradburn hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the third quarter, but Butler had eight for the Lady Oaks who extended their lead to 51-37.

South Point refused to quit. Ericka Leighty had seven points in the fourth quarter to close to within six points, but the Lady Pointers could get no closer.

Bradburn had 17 points and eight rebounds to pace South Point (6-1). Fletcher scored 14 and Leighty had 13. Tinesha Taylor grabbed six rebounds.

Karissa Adkins scored 17 points, Puckett 14, and Butler 13 for the Oak Hill (8-0).
