Charles Edward Nance, 66, of Ironton, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2009, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky. The Lawrence County native was born March 14, 1942, the son of the late John and Bertha Wilson Nance
Mr. Nance was a U.S. Army veteran, a former employee of Clark Wire and of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Norval Nance, Clifford Nance and Ernest Nance.
He is survived by five sons, Charles Nance of Huntington, Carl Nance, David Nance, Larry Gene Nance and Terry Joe Nance, all of Ironton; two daughters, Donna Roy of South Point and Joyce Wikoff of Ironton; a brother, Robert Nance of Kitts Hill; three sisters, Millie Adams of South Point, Mary Simpson and Nettie Smathers, both of Willow Wood; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Smathers and Rev. Billy Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Aid Cemetery.
