Klaiber, Redmen down Flyers

Chad Harvey got No. 1,000. The Rock Hill Redmen got No. 3. The Redmen were happier.

Rock Hill picked up its third win of the season by beating the St. Joseph Flyers 56-41 Tuesday to overshadow Harvey who recorded his 1,000th career point.

Brandon Klaiber had a career-high 26 points to lead the Redmen (3-5). Sam Cooke scored 11 and Dustin Chandler added nine.

Harvey scored 20 points for the Flyers (4-4). Caleb Blackburn added 10 points.

“We were able to handle their press, and our size was a factor,” said Rock Hill coach Adam Simpson. “We were more consistent for four quarters. We didn’t have the mental lapses.”

Klaiber and Cooke combined for 11 points to offset six by Harvey as the Redmen took a 13-10 first quarter lead.

Klaiber scored seven more points in the second quarter as the lead went to 26-21 at the break. Blackburn and Harvey scored seven points between them.

Chandler had six of his points in the third quarter as Rock Hill outscored the Flyers 13-7 to go up 39-28. Harvey had all of St. Joseph’s points.

Klaiber knocked down nine points in the fourth quarter as the Redmen continued to pull away.
