NORMA BROWN

Mrs. Norma J. Brown, 70, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky.
She was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Ironton, the daughter of the late Donald and Mary Louise Jones Markel.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Sedgewick United Methodist Church, president of the Women’s Society of the church, a member of the Goodwill Society, and a former PTA president.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Greg Markel and an aunt, Norma Mae Tanner.
She is survived by her husband, Claude R. Brown, Sr. of Ironton; two daughters, Norma K. Hunt and her husband, Steve of Ironton, and Kendra M. Brown and her partner, Tracy of Huntington, W.Va.; four sons, Claude R. Brown, Jr. and wife, Carrie of West Virginia, Loren E. Brown and wife, Christy of Rifle, Colo., Charles R. Brown of Ironton, and Brian Dean-Buddah of Ironton; eight grandchildren, Wendy and Damon Bess, Christopher Lewis, Jessica and Eric Duarte, Lauren and Eddie Fuller, C.J. Brown and fiancee’, Amber, Joey Brown, Mary Louise and Rick Thompson, Megan and Brian Benicher, and Amanda Romella. Also surviving are 14 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Carolyn K. Giles and Marylou Day, both of Ironton; two lifelong friends, Corally Edens and Bernice Cain, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer Funeral Home with the Rev. Curtis McComis officiating. Friends may call at the 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Community Hospice, 1538 Central Ave., Ashland, Ky. 41101.
