SOUTH POINT — Gary Ruben Lawson, 52, of South Point, passed away Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, in Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, W. Va. The Ironton native was born July 20, 1956, the son of Carol Kay McKnight Lawson of Coal Grove and the late Gary B. Lawson. He is also survived by his wife, Karen Kay Sheppard Lawson, whom he married July 21, 1978.
Mr. Lawson was a graduate of South Point High School and was of the Baptist faith. He was a district manager for the Pepsi Company, where he had been employed for 23 years.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Earl F. Sheppard.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is also survived by two sons, Eric Ruben Lawson and Caleb Creighton Lawson, both of Huntington; a brother, Gregory Hanley of Coal Grove; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda K. and Timothy Ruff of Ceredo-Kenova, W. Va., and Shellie Denise and Buddy Moore of Coal Grove; a granddaughter, Madison Rayne Lawson of Huntington and a grandson, Connor Gage Lawson of Huntington.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Lee Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
