GROVE CITY — Saundra Jean Day Smith 66, of Grove City, Ohio passed Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at her residence. She was born Sept.11, 1942, in Ashland, Ky., a daughter of the late Rev. Ralph M. Day and Dora J. Alcorn Day. She attended Green Township High School and was a graduate of Franklin Township High School in Columbus. She was the former owner of a construction company that originated in Columbus. The company later relocated to Big Pine Key, Fla. She was also a former member of the Franklin Furnace Enterprise Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Day. Saundra is survived by a son, Wendell Ray Stepp and his wife, Diana of Grove City; two daughters, Debra Sue Stepp of Columbus, and Dawn Ranee Gregory and her husband, Ricky Scott of Delaware; four brothers, the Rev.Larry Day and his wife, Betty of Corbin, Ky., David Day and his wife, Peggy, Bill Day and Randall Day all of Columbus, and a sister, Ruth Diane Tukesbery also of Columbus. Saundra also leaves a precious granddaughter, Krista and precious grandson, Bradley.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Franklin Furnace Enterprise Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Lavender and Larry Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckeye Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the church. Memorial donations should be made to the Franklin Furnace Baptist Church in her memory. The family has entrusted her care to the Spence-Miller Funeral Home of Grove City with local funeral arrangements being entrusted to the Brown Funeral Chapel of Ironton.
