Pointers post win over Redmen

For the South Point Pointers, it just became a matter of time.

The Pointers took their time until late in the first half and then blew the game open as they beat the Rock Hill Redmen 65-38 Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

The Pointers led just 9-6 at the end of the first quarter, but went up by nine at the half and built a 19-point lead by the end of the third quarter.

“We started to pull away in the second quarter and then we scored some early in the third quarter that really go us going,” said Pointers’ coach Gary Norris.

Drew Lynd had six points in the second quarter to offset six points by Rock Hill’s Brandon Klaiber as the Pointers took a 29-20 lead at the break.

The Pointers outscored Rock Hill 24-10 in the third quarter as the lead grew to 53-30. Sammy Cooke had seven of Rock Hill’s points in the quarter.

Chase Kratzenberg scored 20 points and have five assists for the Pointers (11-8, 5-5). Greg Taylor had eight rebounds and Cody Taylor four more while Matt Button handed out five assists.

Rock Hill (5-15, 2-8) was led by Cooke with 11 points and Klaiber with 10.
