JACKSON — All good things must come to an end, and the end came Thursday for the Green Lady Bobcats.

A successful season for the Lady Bobcats ended in Division IV district semifinals as Green fell 63-45 to the Lucasville Valley Lady Indians.

“It was a pretty good year for us. We had our first winning season in a while and we won a sectional,” said Green coach Dale Royse as the Lady Bobcats went 13-9.

“We didn’t shoot well in the first half, but we battled just like we have all year. I’m proud of the girls’ effort and everything they’ve done this year.”

Green was led by Adrianne Blankenship with 23 points and six rebounds. Senior Ashlee Runyon had a solid all-around game with 11 points, four assists and six steals while Lauren Jones added nine points and 14 rebounds.

“Ashlee had a nice game. We’ll miss her next year,” said Royse. “Adrianne played hard and she hasn’t been feeling well. Lauren Jones played the whole game and really battled.”

Not only was Blankenship under the weather, but starter Breanna Johnson did not play due to an illness.

Lucasville Valley (16-6) was led by Jordan Arbaugh with 31 points, 21 coming in the second half. Michelle Mains scored 11 and Courtney Crabtree 10 for the Lady Indians.

“We knew Arbaugh was effective and we wanted to contest her shot. But she killed us in the second half,” said Royse.

Valley led 11-7 after the first quarter and 27-15 at the half. The Lady Indians extended the lead to 47-29 after three quarters.
