ZELMA HOLMES

Zelma L. Holmes, 92, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at Columbus Colony in Westerville.
She was born April 3, 1916 in Hanging Rock, a daughter of the late Arthur and Nancy J. Ellis Steward.
She was a dietician at the Lawrence County Medical Center and she was a member of Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe L. Holmes; two sons, pat Holmes and Mike Holmes; four brothers, John Howard, Rayford Howard, Arthur Steward and Elza Steward and two sisters, Ruth Blackburn and Frances Johnson.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward and Linda Holmes of Ironton and Rocky Holmes of Biloxi, Miss.; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Margaret and Mickey Henderson of Baltimore, Md., Debbie Holmes of Columbus and Frances and Clyde Anderson of Columbus; three sisters, Edna Ross of Springfield, Geneva Pass of Columbus and Alberta Ford of Washington, D.C.; a brother, Eugene Steward of Washington, D.C.; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Quinn Chapel A.M.E. Church with the Rev. Melonie Valentine officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, section 21. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday and one prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Tracy Brammer Funeral Home.
