ASHLAND, Ky. — This time, the gloves go on.

The gloves will go on the boxers this weekend as the Tri-State Golden Gloves annual tournament is held at the Ashland National Guard Armory on Lexington Avenue.

Bell time is 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Winners in each weight class of the Golden Gloves will advance to the national tournament to be held at Salt Lake City.

Money generated from the Golden Gloves will be used to cover travel, food and hotel expenses for the champions.

The Ashland-Boyd County-Catlettsburg Police Athletic League (ABC PAL) will also host a boxing show on Saturday, April 11, at 3 p.m. in the Boyd County Middle School.

Money from this show go toward the training facility’s expenses.

The Golden Gloves and ABC PAL are non-profit organizations. Coaches are on a volunteer basis.
