CHESAPEAKE — Donald R. Wylie, 82, of Chesapeake, passed from this life, Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at his residence.
Don was born Jan. 4, 1927, in Huntington, W.Va., a son of the late Robert and Eva Lee Gilmore Wylie. He was a retired operator with Allied Signal, a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served in the U.S. Army and was a 50-year member of American Legion Post 640.
He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post 9738, and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Wylie, Jr., and Kenneth Wylie.
Don is survived by his wife, Jean Ann Noll Wylie; two children, Linda Wylie Bowman and her husband, Wayne of Pittsburgh, Penn., and Rick Wylie and his wife, Jill of Plano, Texas; four grandchildren, Donald Bowman, Cassie Bowman Martin and her husband, Corey, Alexis Rae Wylie, and Ashleigh Ackerman; three great grandchildren, Alex and Jake Bowman, and Corinna Martin; one brother, William Wylie of South Point; one sister, Donna Sanford of Caldwell; a very special friend, Ron Smith; and a very special caregiver, Jodi Nichols.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Doersam officiating. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery.
