ROME TOWNSHIP — On Sunday Fairland High hurdler Jordan Aldridge will compete at the Nike National Indoor Track Meet in Boston in the 60-meter hurdle.
Aldridge, who has been involved in track since she was in seventh grade, qualified for the national meet on Feb. 21. That is when she made her best time of 9.49 seconds at a meet at the University of Kentucky in the 60-meter hurdles.
That success allowed her coach, John Buchanan, to enter her into the Boston meet.
Aldridge will face three competitions: sectional; semi finals; and finals. In the stands watching will be her mother, Tonya Aldridge; younger brother, Zach, 15; and her grandmother, Paula Rice.
Right now, Aldridge says she is more excited than nervous about the upcoming meet, but knows when the time comes she can overcome any nerves with a single-minded focus.
“I like to run. I don’t hear anything when I run,” she said.
Her goal?
“I want to make my personal best time lower.”
